WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) today announced the launch of a new six-figure advertising campaign highlighting the critical role equipment manufacturers play in powering the U.S. economy, strengthening communities, and driving America’s global competitiveness.

The campaign features a new 30-second ad, "A Manufacturing Renaissance," and a dedicated website, EquipmentImpact.org, which provides state-by-state data illustrating the industry's economic contributions across all 50 states, including its support for jobs, wages, investment, and local communities.

Launching ahead of AEM's annual Washington, D.C. Fly-In, the campaign will bring the industry's message directly to federal policymakers through a coordinated, multi-channel advertising effort that includes targeted cable programming, digital advertising, and mobile digital billboards throughout the nation's capital.

“From rural communities to major cities, our industry supports millions of family-sustaining jobs, drives economic growth, and strengthens America's manufacturing base,” said Kip Eideberg, AEM's Senior Vice President of Government and Industry Relations. “This campaign is designed to educate Congress and the Trump Administration about the policies that will help equipment manufacturers create more jobs, grow our economy, and keep America competitive.”

The campaign will run through the end of the year, reinforcing the importance of policies that foster a competitive business environment and support continued investment in domestic manufacturing.

The campaign is anchored by a workforce-focused commercial that celebrates the people who build, power, and feed America while highlighting the opportunities available across the skilled trades and manufacturing. The commercial will run for three months across social media, digital video, and connected television.

Mike Rowe filmed the campaign during an appearance with the AEM Manufacturing Express at CONEXPO-CON/AGG, where he joined AEM leaders and equipment manufacturing workers to discuss the importance of skilled work, career and technical education, and the role manufacturers play in strengthening local communities and the broader U.S. economy. 

“Fifteen years ago, I was honored to help introduce the I Make America campaign, and today, I’m honored once again to highlight hundreds of thousands of essential jobs in the manufacturing sector, along with the hardworking, highly skilled Americans who fill them,” said Mike Rowe. “Campaigns like these are essential to closing America’s skills gap, by showing the next generation of skilled workers just how much opportunity is out there." 

The campaign will continue through the 2026 leg of the AEM Manufacturing Express, which kicks off on September 1. During the month-long tour, Mike Rowe’s message will be shared with manufacturing employees at facilities across the Northeast.

This August and September, the “AEM Manufacturing Express” will travel to manufacturing facilities across Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New York, and Ohio. At each stop, AEM will invite employees to take the “Manufacturing Challenge,” an interactive online game, to learn more about the innovations that power modern equipment manufacturing. Attendees will also learn how to become advocates for the industry by joining I Make America, AEM’s national grassroots program.

To date, the “AEM Manufacturing Express” has visited 23 states and Washington, D.C. The tour launched in 2024, traveling to over 80 stops in 20 states.

“The Senate’s introduction of the Agricultural Act of 2026 is an important step towards providing the certainty America’s farmers, rural communities, and equipment manufacturers need. A strong and modern farm bill supports farm income, strengthens the agricultural supply chain, and ensures that agriculture continues to power the U.S. economy for decades to come. This bill supports the adoption of precision agriculture technologies, promotes long-term productivity, and helps ensure American agriculture remains competitive in a growing global market. It also plays a key role in sustaining hundreds of thousands of equipment manufacturing jobs tied to the agricultural economy.

"The Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry must now move quickly to mark up the legislation and bring it up for a vote. Farmers and equipment manufacturers have waited too long for an updated framework that reflects today’s challenges and opportunities.

The continued need for greater investment in roads and bridges, ports and waterways, power grids, and broadband infrastructure demands immediate action, and the campaign urges Congress to reauthorize the surface transportation programs set to expire at the end of September. It also highlights the essential role equipment manufacturers play in building and maintaining the infrastructure that keeps America moving.

To kick off the campaign, AEM has launched a digital content hub featuring interviews with policymakers, perspectives from industry leaders, and original reporting and analysis. New content will be added regularly to inform stakeholders and build support for the reauthorization of surface transportation programs.

AEM is urging policymakers to support:

• A transportation funding bill that focuses on creating family-sustaining jobs, making America’s infrastructure safer, and connecting more communities.
• A sustainable and long-term funding mechanism for America’s infrastructure systems.
• Investment in digital construction technology to improve jobsite safety, prevent costly project errors, and cut overall construction costs. 

Through “Momentum to Move,” AEM is working to ensure policymakers understand the importance of sustained infrastructure investment and its impact on manufacturers, workers, and communities.

“The House’s passage of year‑round E15 is a long‑overdue win for farmers, rural communities, and every consumer who values affordable, homegrown energy. Year‑round E15 provides exactly what farmers have been asking for: a stable, reliable market for their crops at a time of real economic strain. This commonsense legislation strengthens rural economies, supports American manufacturing, and increases access to lower‑cost fuel at the pump. Now, it is time for the Senate to follow suit and send the bill to the President’s desk without delay.”

Commissioned by AEM and prepared by S&P Global Market Intelligence, the report quantifies the industry’s direct, indirect, and induced contributions to the Canadian economy across jobs supported, total industry output (sales activity), value added (GDP contribution), labour income, and tax revenues. 

The report finds that in 2025, the Canadian off-highway equipment manufacturing industry generated $54 billion in total industry output, supported 147,000 jobs nationwide, and contributed $24 billion in total value added to the Canadian GDP, representing nearly 1 per cent of the 2025 total nominal GDP, and generated $13.7 billion in total labour income. 

“As Canada continues to focus on its nation-building agenda, equipment manufacturers play a key role,” said Megan Tanel, AEM’s President and CEO. “Representing 7 per cent of Canada’s manufacturing employment base, the number of jobs supported by the industry would fill the Montreal Bell Centre more than seven times. Despite headwinds, the industry has proven its adaptability and resilience.”    

The report notes that while the three-year employment total grew, annual changes in industry employment showed more volatility. The industry’s direct employment grew 5.9 per cent in 2023 before experiencing a slight contraction in 2024 and 2025. Despite these fluctuations, the sector continues to provide highly skilled, lucrative career paths. Average labour income per job for those directly employed by the industry amounted to $102,000, roughly 30 per cent above the national average. Industry-supported activity also generated $1.1 billion in taxes, a 10.5 per cent increase from 2022. 

"Constructing a more resilient, future-ready Canada starts with the equipment that powers its critical industries, and that is built and operated by skilled Canadian labour in communities nationwide,” said Linda Hasenfratz, Executive Chair of Linamar Corporation and member of the AEM Board of Directors. “The report underscores that removing obstacles to growth, such as commercial barriers between provinces, can foster a more integrated Canadian economy with more pathways for commercial investment as the country seeks to offset the impacts of global trade volatility.”  

A major factor in the industry's ongoing resilience has been the protective shield of the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA). Despite the negative economic impact of ongoing tariff measures, CUSMA has positioned Canada well in comparison to other United States trade partners, with Canadians construction machinery exports only falling 2.2 per cent year over year compared to Germany (28.6 per cent) and the United Kingdom (35.3 per cent). However, the main risk moving forward remains policy uncertainty, including tariff changes, rules-of-origin enforcement, and retaliatory measures that create volatility in costs and lead times. 

"Canada’s equipment manufacturers have proven their ability to weather storms, but resilience alone is not a growth strategy,” said Kip Eideberg, AEM’s Senior Vice President of Government and Industry Relations. “To ensure long-term economic security, Canada must double down on championing the mutual benefits of free trade with current and prospective partners while also investing in the large-scale infrastructure projects that support manufacturing competitiveness. When we champion pro-manufacturing policies, we ensure the people who build, power, and feed Canada can continue to thrive." 

Key national findings 

• $54 billion in total industry output (sales activity) generated by the industry.
• 147,000 total jobs supported in Canada (direct, indirect, and induced), representing 0.5 per cent of Canada’s total employment base.
• 70,900 direct jobs in the industry in 2025.

Provincial impact: The report highlights the evolving regional footprint of the industry across the country, noting a divergence in fortunes among the provinces that account for the largest shares of direct employment. 

• Ontario: Continues to represent the largest share industry operations and jobs, supporting 27,785 direct jobs (nearly 39 per cent of the national total) and 59,521 total jobs.
• Quebec: Remains the second largest employer of industry jobs in Canada, supporting 13,625 direct jobs (19 per cent of the national total) and 29,193 total jobs.
• Alberta: Outpaced national growth trends, with the province supporting 11,395 direct jobs (16 per cent of the national total) and 22,024 total jobs.

“Congress has not passed a new Farm Bill since 2018 despite its critical role in keeping American agriculture productive and secure. Extensions and stop‑gap solutions only prolong uncertainty. Without Senate action, there will be real consequences for rural communities, supply chains, and U.S. competitiveness.”

I Make America partnered with Kubota to promote awareness about its campaign and initiatives through the giveaway for the Sidekick UTV. The giveaway marked I Make America’s fourth UTV giveaway in the campaign’s 15-year history.

Equipment manufacturers stand to benefit from the introduction of an immediate 100 per cent tax deduction for manufacturing and processing machinery and equipment, which will allow companies to realize savings right away instead of spreading out deductions over multiple years. Such measures will help workers stay employed, upgrade their skills, and adapt to new technology and job demands as the economic landscape continues to evolve.

“This budget signals that Premiere Ford’s government understands what equipment manufacturers need to compete: a strong investment climate, modern infrastructure, and a steady stream of skilled workers,” said Kip Eideberg, Senior Vice President of Government and Industry Relations at AEM. “The real test now is execution so that Ontario’s workers and businesses see results as soon as possible. AEM looks forward to working collaboratively with the government to ensure smooth implementation of these measures so that equipment manufacturers and their value chain partners can continue to thrive.”

“Today’s Supreme Court ruling that the IEEPA tariffs are unlawful is welcome news for equipment manufacturers, who have spent the last year navigating higher input costs and mounting trade uncertainty. We support the Administration's efforts to bring manufacturing back to the United States and secure domestic supply chains, but tariffs on critical parts and components have significantly raised the cost of domestic manufacturing and have made U.S.-made equipment less competitive in America as well as in foreign markets. This has resulted in disrupted supply chains, delayed capital investments, reduced investment in R&D, and a slowdown in the expansion of domestic manufacturing capacity. 

“Importantly, even with IEEPA tariffs being overturned, equipment manufacturers still face Section 232 tariffs on steel and aluminum, which raise the cost of critical parts and components that are not produced in the U.S. What equipment manufacturers need most is certainty so they can make long-term decisions that benefit their workers, their customers, and the broader U.S. economy.” 

"We urge the administration to use today’s ruling as an opportunity to chart a new course for tariff policy and secure more trade agreements that expand market access for America’s equipment manufacturers. Fair, balanced, and mutually beneficial trade relationships with our allies and partners keep supply chains resilient, commerce flowing, and support millions of equipment manufacturing jobs across the country."

“The EPA's new guidance on emission system repairs will help resolve longstanding ambiguity around when temporary inducement or emissions control overrides are permissible.

"Farmers depend on timely, affordable repairs to plant, harvest, and keep operations running strong and for years, AEM has advocated for regulatory consistency and clarity to ensure manufacturers can support repairs confidently without unintended compliance risks. This guidance expands repair flexibility for farmers without compromising software integrity, safety systems, or the security of modern equipment."

Tractor overturns cause 96 deaths each year, despite being almost entirely preventable with proven safety technology. The newly introduced legislation would create a cost-share grant program through the USDA to help farmers retrofit older tractors with rollover protection systems, improving safety while ensuring operations can continue without disruption. By establishing the National ROPS Rebate Program, the purchasing cost, transportation, and installation of tractor rollbars would be covered up to 70%, leaving farmers with an out-of-pocket cap of just $500.  

“Tractor rollovers are the leading cause of on-farm deaths, but they are entirely preventable,” said Kip Eideberg, Senior Vice President of Government and Industry Relations for the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM). “Farmers who rely on older equipment should not have to choose between keeping their family safe and keeping their operations running. This legislation is a commonsense, bipartisan solution that will save lives, strengthen rural communities, and ensure that every farmer has access to the safety technology they deserve. Equipment manufacturers are proud to support this effort to make our farms safer and our agricultural workforce more secure.”  

AEM has long supported policies that advance farm safety, protect rural livelihoods, and promote practical solutions for America’s agricultural workforce. By reducing the cost barriers associated with installing rollover protection systems, the legislation would help more farmers adopt life-saving technology and reduce preventable injuries and fatalities in rural communities.

AEM has announced a new five-figure campaign urging Governor Gavin Newsom and California lawmakers to modernize the state’s outdated regulations governing the use of autonomous agricultural equipment. The campaign, Drive Ag Progress, highlights how outdated regulations are preventing California’s farmers from accessing the same innovative tools that are transforming agriculture across the rest of the country.  

“California has always been a global leader in innovation, but farmers are now being left behind in the state,” said Kip Eideberg, AEM’s Senior Vice President of Government and Industry Relations. “It’s time for Governor Newsom to act so that California’s farmers can lead once again and adopt the latest technologies that will keep them competitive on the global stage.” 

In states across the country, autonomous agriculture equipment is already improving productivity, addressing worker shortages, creating safer working conditions on farms, and reducing costs. Yet, California’s existing regulatory barriers prevent farmers from safely deploying this technology in their fields. 

This campaign highlights that autonomous farm equipment is a solution, not a threat. While autonomous vehicles are already deployed in the streets of California, they are not currently allowed in farm fields. This hypocrisy is holding back farmers and California’s innovative track record.  

Through the Drive Ag Progress campaign, AEM is calling on Governor Newsom to update California’s autonomous agriculture regulations, empowering farmers with innovation and driving progress forward for California’s agricultural future.

Wisconsin has lost nearly half of its dairy farms in the last decade, and small and medium-sized operations continue to face steep challenges, including labor shortages, high operational costs, and aging facilities. These closures have rippled through local economies, resulting in lost jobs not only on farms but also in the equipment manufacturing industry and throughout the state’s rural communities. 

Fortunately, in July, Governor Evers approved Wisconsin’s 2025-2027 biennial budget, which included $20 million for dairy cattle innovation funding. Now, equipment manufacturers are urging the Wisconsin Senate Committee on Agriculture and Revenue to pass the bill out of committee and clear the way for SB 323’s passage.  

“When family farms succeed, rural communities across Wisconsin succeed,” said AEM Senior Vice President of Government and Industry Relations Kip Eideberg. “By giving small and mid-sized dairy farmers access to the latest technologies, lawmakers are making sure farmers can continue to feed the world in the smartest and most efficient ways possible. “Wisconsin’s dairy industry is the backbone of our agricultural economy, but too many family farms are being left behind because they lack access to the tools and technology that larger operations rely on every day,” said Greg Petras, President of Kuhn North America Inc. and Chair of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers’ Agricultural Sector Board. “This legislation is about leveling the playing field and giving small and mid-sized farmers the ability to invest in equipment that improves efficiency, reduces costs, and strengthens long-term sustainability. By establishing a dairy innovation fund, lawmakers are helping ensure that Wisconsin’s dairy farmers can continue to thrive and that America’s Dairyland remains a global leader in milk production.” 

“Dairy farmers in Wisconsin and across the country rely on innovation to stay competitive, but too many smaller operations simply can’t access the equipment and technology they need,” said Steve Pretz, President of BouMatic. “The Dairy Innovation Fund is a practical solution that will help level the playing field, strengthen demand for locally made equipment, and preserve family-sustaining jobs in both farming and manufacturing. Wisconsin’s economy and communities will be stronger because of it.” 

“As a smaller dairy in Wisconsin, I know firsthand how hard it is to keep up with rising costs,” said Jeff Scott of Richon Farms. “A zero-interest loan would make a world of difference for farm families like mine. It would give us the opportunity to invest in modern equipment, cut our costs, and compete with economies of scale allowing our businesses to thrive for the next generation. This bill gives potential to new efficiency, sustainability and stability to small and mid-size operations while enriching the deep dairy tradition of our communities and state.” 

Wisconsin is home to more dairy farms than any other state, yet industry consolidation has left many family-owned farms at risk. Precision agriculture technology can help smaller operations compete by maximizing milk yields, improving animal welfare, reducing input costs, and lowering environmental impacts.  

SB 323 would help more farmers access this technology, safeguarding thousands of good-paying jobs and strengthening Wisconsin’s $52.8 billion dairy industry, which represents nearly half of the state’s agricultural economy. 

The bill creates a zero-interest revolving loan program through the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, allowing dairy producers to upgrade outdated equipment, adopt precision agriculture tools, and modernize manure management systems. Given that nearly half of Wisconsin’s dairy farms have left the state in the past decade, this legislation offers timely relief and a pathway to help smaller farms better compete.

Wisconsin is home to more dairy farms than any other state, with approximately 5,300 active farms contributing $52.8 billion annually to the state’s economy. But rising costs, labor shortages, and industry consolidation have made it harder for smaller farms to survive, especially those lacking access to modern equipment that improves operational efficiency. 

As Wisconsin’s dairy industry continues to adapt to new challenges, AEM urges lawmakers to pass this legislation and ensure the state remains America’s Dairyland for generations to come.

• Producing Responsible Energy and Conservation Incentives and Solutions for the Environment (PRECISE) Act – Expands eligibility for USDA’s Conservation Loan and Guaranteed Loan Programs to include precision agriculture and rural broadband investments, enabling more producers and rural entities to access smart-farming technologies. (Co-sponsors: Senator Fischer, Senator Klobuchar)

• Promoting Precision Agriculture Act – Directs USDA and NIST to work together to develop interoperability standards to ensure equipment manufactured by different OEMs can work and function together in sync. (Co-sponsors: Senator Thune, Senator Warnock)

• Linking Access to Spur Technology for Agriculture Connectivity in Rural Environments (LAST ACRE) Act – Advances the expansion of high-speed rural broadband through USDA, ensuring ubiquitous “last acre” internet coverage. The bill draws on recommendations from the USDA-FCC Precision Ag Connectivity Task Force established by the 2018 Farm Bill. (Co-sponsors: Senator Fischer, Senator Lujan)

Precision agriculture technologies such as auto guidance, variable rate application, precision irrigation, machine section control, and fleet telematics help producers operate more efficiently. For example:

• Soil moisture sensors could save enough water to fill 750,000 Olympic-size swimming pools.

• The application of an estimated 30 million pounds of herbicide was avoided due to adoption of P.A. technologies, with an estimated 48 million pounds of additional herbicide that could be avoided with broader adoption.

• Adoption of auto guidance and fleet telematics could reduce fossil fuel use equivalent to removing 193,000 cars from the road annually.

"While we strongly support the Trump administration’s goal of strengthening our trade relationships and creating fair and favorable terms for America, imposing 25 percent tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico will hurt American manufacturers and farmers. Our North American trading partners are a critical part of the supply chains that power the equipment manufacturing industry. Tariffs on critical parts and components will drive up costs, disrupt production, and threaten tens of thousands of jobs across the United States. 

America’s equipment manufacturers depend on a stable, predictable trade environment to do what we do best: build equipment, invest in our communities, and create jobs. Maintaining strong trade relationships with Canada and Mexico is vital to America’s continued economic growth and national security. It is imperative that we protect the economic engine that is North America from policies, however well intended, that will stifle growth at the worst possible time.

Precision agriculture leverages technologies to enhance sustainability through the more efficient use of land, water, fuel, fertilizer, and pesticides. Farmers who use precision agriculture technologies use less to grow more, reducing both cost and environmental impact. The letter points out that herbicide use could be further reduced by 15 percent and water use could decrease by 21 percent at full adoption of precision agriculture technologies. Technologies that enhance the efficient use of these inputs include GPS enabled devices such as autosteer and auto guidance, variable application rate technology telematic and fleet analytics, satellite mapping and imagery, yield monitors, and soil mapping. 

“The next farm bill is an opportunity for Congress to help farmers access the tools they need to monitor, manage, and maximize their operations while advancing climate-smart agriculture practices and protecting our environment,” said Kip Eideberg, Senior Vice President of Government and Industry Relations. “Because if we are serious about promoting climate-smart farming, then we need to make sure that USDA’s conservation-related programs help expand access to precision agriculture technologies.” 

The PAL Act would create a program within the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to provide loan financing to farmers and ranchers interested in purchasing precision agriculture equipment, while the PRECISE Act would provide a suite of financial tools to help farmers and ranchers of all sizes increase their adoption of precision ag technologies through existing USDA conservation programs. 

The PRECISE ACT would also incentivize private sector financing of precision agriculture equipment through the Conservation Loan Guarantee Program and the Business and Industry Loan Guarantee Program and fund 100% of precision agriculture projects through joint participation of conservation cost-share programs and the Conservation Loan Program.

The FY2024 budget, which included the funding to create the Dairy Innovation Fund, was signed by Governor Reynolds on June 1. The program will make available new technologies and equipment to Iowa’s dairy farmers through low interest loans and grants. With the help of the Dairy Innovation Fund, dairy farmers will be able to access critical financial resources that can lead to cost improvements and increased efficiency through the usage of modern dairy technology. AEM helped secure passage of the legislation through a comprehensive advocacy campaign, including meetings with lawmakers and an earned media campaign. Chad Huyser, president of Lely North America and member of AEM’s Dairy Leadership Group, authored an op-ed in the Oskaloosa Herald calling for the bill’s passage.

The activation comes on the heels of CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2023, North America's largest trade show, which is held every three years in Las Vegas, Nevada. AEM’s I Make America campaign engaged with the 139,000 attendees to raise awareness for the policies that will strengthen the industry and ensure that equipment manufacturers can continue to make the equipment that builds, powers, and feeds the world.

I will continue to push for the passage of my bipartisan PAL Act, which would expand farmers’ access to these kinds of high-tech equipment,” said Senator Fischer.

Last year, the AEM Champion of the Industry Award was presented for the first time in the association’s history to U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), U.S. Representative Don Bacon (R-Neb.), and U.S. Representative Cheri Bustos (D-Ill.) for their tireless efforts on behalf of the equipment manufacturing industry throughout the course of their careers in Congress.

Timmons toured the company's headquarters, greeting factory floor workers along the way. During the visit, Timmons highlighted his efforts in Congress to support the equipment manufacturing industry which generates $218 million in tax revenue annually for the state of South Carolina.
