Spartanburg Steel Products and AEM Host Rep. William Timmons for Tour of Spartanburg Facility

Spartanburg, SC – Spartanburg Steel Products and the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) hosted United States Representative William Timmons (R-SC) for an I Make America event at Spartanburg Steel's South Carolina headquarters. The event focused on the importance of equipment manufacturing in South Carolina and across the country.

“Thanks to South Carolina’s pro-growth policies, the upstate has become a manufacturing powerhouse and a top destination for businesses of all sizes. I appreciate Spartanburg Steel Products for the informative tour today and the opportunity to hear more about their business and how inflation, the supply chain crisis, and labor issues have impacted their 400-employee operation. In Congress, I’m committed to finding solutions to these challenges that many of our upstate manufacturers are facing," said Rep. William Timmons (SC-04).

Timmons toured the company's headquarters, greeting factory floor workers along the way. During the visit, Timmons highlighted his efforts in Congress to support the equipment manufacturing industry which generates $218 million in tax revenue annually for the state of South Carolina.

“On behalf of Spartanburg Steel Products 400 employees, we thank Rep. Timmons for taking the time out of his busy schedule to visit our operations, meet with management and employees, and hear how inflation, supply chain constraints and labor shortages have affected our business first hand. And thank you to the Association of Equipment Manufacturers for their continued efforts through the I Make America campaign, supporting the over 2.8 million men and women in the equipment manufacturing industry,” said Mark Whitten, President & CEO, Spartanburg Steel Products.

"AEM is grateful for Congressman Timmons strong support for the equipment manufacturing industry and his efforts to protect the more than 35,000 family-sustaining jobs our member companies support in South Carolina," said Kip Eideberg, AEM’s senior vice president of government and industry relations. "Our elected officials must remain focused on addressing our nation's biggest challenges by championing pro-manufacturing policies that help grow our economy, bolster domestic supply chains, and invest in our nation’s infrastructure. We look forward to continuing to work with Congressman Timmons to strengthen American equipment manufacturing.”
