WASHINGTON, D.C. – Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) president Dennis Slater issued the following statement in response to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s decision to ask for additional public input on an existing rule on phenol isopropylated phosphate (3:1), commonly referred to as PIP 3:1:

 “Equipment manufacturers appreciate the Environmental Protection Agency listening to our concerns regarding immediate removal and we are encouraged by their decision to seek additional public input as they reevaluate the rule on phenol isopropylated phosphate (3:1),” said Dennis Slater, president of AEM. “During the 60-day comment period, AEM and our member companies will educate the EPA about our industry’s multi-tiered, international supply chain that provides thousands of parts, some of which are critical to the proper functioning of equipment, and the steps that we are taking as an industry to limit the use of phenol isopropylated phosphate (3:1) whenever possible. Equipment manufacturers are committed to working with the EPA to find a solution that is guided by the best available science, protects human health and the environment, and ensures our industry remains competitive in the global economy.”
