Equipment Manufacturers Applaud Passage of Bill to Raise Debt Ceiling, Call for Continued Bipartisan Momentum

June 2, 2023 (Washington, D.C.) – The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) released the following statement after Congress sent a bipartisan bill to President Biden’s desk that will raise the debt ceiling, stave off default, and preserve the full faith and credit of the United States.

“Equipment manufacturers salute the members of Congress who reached across the aisle to secure a bipartisan agreement to lift the debt limit. Passage of bipartisan legislation avoids a devastating default that would have crippled our economy, sunk our credit rating, and hurt American job creators,” said Kip Eideberg, AEM senior vice president of government and industry relations. “The legislation also paves the way for meaningful reforms to our broken permitting system, which will unleash critical infrastructure projects and secure lasting American energy security and independence. Equipment manufacturers urge Congress to build on the bicameral, bipartisan momentum to advance policies critical to the industry: supporting America’s farmers and ranchers, improving the country’s immigration system, and ensuring that the U.S. tax code provides the incentives for businesses to invest in the research and development of new products and ideas.”
