AEM STATEMENT ON HOUSE REPUBLICANS’ TAX REFORM BLUEPRINT

Washington, D.C., June 24, 2016 – Dennis Slater, president of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), issued the following statement on the unveiling of the House Republicans’ comprehensive tax reform blueprint by Speaker Ryan and Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady:

“Today’s announcement is an important step toward modernizing our outdated tax system. There is no question that America’s tax code is beyond repair. Tinkering with it will not work. AEM members know firsthand that our current tax system is fundamentally flawed and discourages economic growth and U.S. competitiveness. We need our elected officials in Washington, D.C. to take a bold approach to comprehensive tax reform that will result in a balanced, fiscally responsible plan that allows equipment manufacturers in the United States to prosper, grow and create jobs, and enhance their global competitiveness.

We appreciate the leadership Speaker Ryan and Chairman Brady have demonstrated on much-needed tax reform. We look forward to reviewing the plan in greater detail with our members and working with the leaders of both parties to build the necessary bipartisan support to make tax reform a reality.”
