AEM Launches “Tax Smarter, Build Stronger” Campaign to Advocate for Tax Reform

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) today announced the launch of “Tax Smarter, Build Stronger,” a campaign designed to elevate the voice of America’s equipment manufacturers in the tax policy debate. With many critical reforms from the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) set to expire at the end of 2025, the campaign calls for Congress to take immediate action to preserve the pro-growth tax policies scheduled to expire at the end of the year and advance bipartisan reforms that will make the U.S. tax code more competitive.

Kicking off the campaign, AEM, in partnership with the Washington Examiner, has created an online content hub, which features interviews with lawmakers, opinion pieces by industry leaders and academics, and original reporting and analysis. As tax policy discussions continue, the content hub will be updated with more interviews and insights to keep stakeholders informed about the urgent need for action.

“A competitive tax system is critical to the long-term growth and prosperity of the U.S. equipment manufacturing industry,” said Kip Eideberg, AEM’s Senior Vice President of Government and Industry Relations. “This campaign reflects our unwavering commitment to ensuring the United States remains the best place in the world to invest, innovate, and create jobs.”

AEM’s tax priorities center on renewing the tax reforms from 2017 to ensure that the United States has a reliable, consistent, and competitive tax code. AEM is urging Congress to:

  • Keep the corporate tax rate low;
  • Secure a permanent pass-through deduction;
  • Restore immediate R&D expensing;
  • Make permanent full expensing of investments in new equipment, machinery, and technology;
  • Reinstate the EBITDA standard for interest deductibility; and
  • Preserve the increased estate tax exemption threshold.

Kip Eideberg is available for interviews and further comment on AEM’s tax priorities. For media inquiries, please reach out to jgleklen@aem.org.
