AEM Hails Progress on Bipartisan Permitting Reform

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) Senior Vice President of Government and Industry Relations Kip Eideberg issued the following statement on the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act of 2026:

"The progress made toward a bipartisan permitting reform agreement is an encouraging sign for America's equipment manufacturers, infrastructure builders, energy producers, and the workers who power these industries. For too long, outdated and burdensome permitting processes have delayed critical projects, increased costs, and created uncertainty for businesses looking to invest in the United States.

“Permitting reform will ensure America can accelerate the infrastructure and energy projects needed to remain competitive in the global economy. The bipartisan Senate permitting package will establish enforceable timelines, improve coordination among federal agencies, modernize federal permitting technology, and provide greater certainty for projects that have completed the review process.

“We commend Sens. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W. Va.), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), Mike Lee (R-Utah), and Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) for brokering this game-changing agreement. Equipment manufacturers are counting on Congress to finish the job and advance meaningful permitting reform that strengthens America's ability to build, power, and feed the world.”
