AEM Continues Give-Back Program in 2021

Glenna Holstein_UrbanEcologyCenter

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Jan. 18) – Milwaukee-area non-profit organizations will continue to receive gift card donations from The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) in 2021.

The association announced today that its Give Back Program would continue to run into the first quarter of the year. AEM made the decision in 2020 to use the funds slated for the Democratic National Convention to purchase and donate gift cards to non-profit organizations throughout the Milwaukee area.

One-hundred and ninety $50 gift cards from Pizza Man will be distributed to non-profits in the area over the next few weeks. AEM staff will select the recipient organizations.

In 2020, 200 Glass & Griddle gift cards valued at $50 apiece were distributed throughout the community. Non-profits receiving cards included:

•Street Angels - A small not-for-profit organization that focuses on homelessness in the greater Milwaukee area

•Tandem 2020 – A restaurant turned after-school program for students to receive one-on-one homework help and a free meal

•The Guest House of Milwaukee - A volunteer organization that aims to help prevent homelessness and provides education and health services

•Urban Ecology Center - Provides outdoor science education for urban youth while protecting and using public natural areas, making them safe, accessible and vibrant

•Journey House - Empowers families on Milwaukee's near Southside to move out of poverty by offering Adult Education, Youth Development, THRIVE Workforce Development and Family Engagement.

“These organizations and the volunteers have worked tirelessly throughout this pandemic to provide services to our community,” said Dennis Slater, President of AEM. ““We are headquartered here in Milwaukee and we want to support the local organizations that are helping our community. This is just one way we can thank them and recognize them for their dedication.”
