Dennis Slater, president of AEM

Washington, D.C. —  Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) president Dennis Slater issued the following statement on President Biden’s counterproposal for a sweeping investment in our nation’s infrastructure, countering with a strong investment of $1.7 trillion:

“Equipment manufacturers support President Biden’s efforts to secure bipartisan compromise for sweeping infrastructure legislation while still maximizing the benefits to U.S. manufacturing and all Americans. The 2.8 million men and women of the equipment manufacturing industry count on Democrats and Republicans to work together to advance legislation that makes a transformational investment in our nation’s infrastructure. This means funding that fixes and modernizes our roads, highways, bridges, as well expanding broadband and investing in American workers. We recognize today’s counterproposal is a necessary part of negotiations and are encouraged by lawmakers’ continued efforts to find common ground.”
